- Registration office issues a clearance certificate for the issuance of a replacement general operating permit by the manufacturer or the TÜV (Technical Inspection Authority)
- If the manufacturer still exists, some send a form for issuing the certificate of conformity.
- Authorization to dispose must be proven
- Search query at the police must be negative
- The vehicle must not have any obvious defects that would make it unsafe to drive.
