The application must be submitted in person. Representation by an authorized representative is not permitted.
Companies (legal entities)
The application must be submitted by the (legal) representative of the legal person or association of persons. The power of representation must be proven. The representative of the legal entity may not be represented by an authorized representative, such as a lawyer, when submitting the application.
The following applies to both:
We will send your application by mail to the Federal Office of Justice. You will receive a reply from there within two to four weeks.
Accelerated processing is possible. If you send your application by fax (for an additional fee of 0.50 euros), it will be processed immediately by the Federal Office of Justice.
Important:
The information (document type 1) is always sent to the applicant, section 150 paragraph 1 of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act (GewO). It is not possible to send the information to an authorized person.
For certain information (document type 9), direct transmission to an authority can be requested, section 150, paragraph 5 of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act (GewO).
This exemption regulation extends conclusively to information- for the preparation of the decision on an application for admission to a trade or other commercial enterprise,
- for the preparation of the decision on the granting of a certificate of competence pursuant to Section 20 of the Explosives Act, and
- for the preparation of the decision on the verification of reliability pursuant to Section 38 (1) of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act.
For all other purposes, the information can only be sent to the applicant.
Individuals (natural persons):
- Identity card/passport
- Mother's maiden name
- Commercial register, association register or cooperative register excerpt from the relevant local court to determine the HRB number
- Seat of the competent local court
- The complete company name and address
- The company name: AG, GmbH, OHG etc.
- The purpose of use
- The identity card of the (legal) representative of the company
Private persons (natural persons): 13:00 Euro
Companies (legal entities): 13:00 Euro
Validity period: 3 months
Apply online for an extract from the central business register:
Since September 1, 2014, anyone who needs an extract from the central business register can save themselves the trouble of going to the authorities. With the electronic ID card or the electronic residence permit, extracts from the Gewerbezentralregister can now be requested via the online portal www.fuehrungszeugnis.bund.de of the Federal Office of Justice on the Internet.
- A new identity card or an electronic residence permit, in each case with the online ID function enabled.
- A card reader for reading the ID document
- An ID card app from version 1.13. Unfortunately, earlier versions cannot be used. The ID card app can be downloaded at www.ausweisapp.bund.
- If necessary, a digital capture device (such as a scanner or digital camera) to upload evidence.
