Electrically powered vehicles registered abroad can - just like electrically powered vehicles registered in Germany - use special privileges.
If electrically powered vehicles are not already marked abroad, the vehicle requires a special marking (so-called E-Plakette) in order to use the privileges.
The so-called E-Plakette is issued upon application by a registration authority visited by the applicant and is to be affixed to the rear of the vehicle in a clearly visible position.
However, the privileges only apply if the road traffic authorities have issued corresponding regulations and may therefore vary from city to city.
However, the corresponding privileges are only valid if they are appropriately signposted or ordered.
- no marking for electrically operated vehicles by the state of origin
- the electric license plate can be used for all vehicles of the vehicle classes M1, N1, N2 (but only up to a total weight of max. 4250 kg) as well as L3e, L4e, L5e, L7e and
- have an alternative drive or energy source, e.g. vehicles with fuel keys 0004 and 0015
- an electrically powered vehicle
- a pure battery electric vehicle
- an externally rechargeable hybrid electric vehicle or a fuel cell vehicle,
- a pure battery electric vehicle: a motor vehicle with a drive system
a) whose energy converters are exclusively electric machines, and
b) whose energy storage units can be recharged at least from outside the vehicle,
- an externally rechargeable hybrid electric vehicle: a motor vehicle with a drive system which has at least two different types of
a) energy converters, at least one of which is an electric prime mover, and
(b) energy storage devices, at least one of which is electrically rechargeable from an energy source external to the vehicle,
- a fuel cell vehicle: a motor vehicle with a drive system whose energy converters consist exclusively of the fuel cells and at least one electric prime mover,
- energy converters: the components of the motor vehicle propulsion system that permanently or temporarily convert energy from one form to another, which are used to propel the motor vehicle,
- Energy storage: the components of the motor vehicle drive system that store the respective forms of energy used to propel the motor vehicle.
- In the case of an externally chargeable hybrid electric vehicle, an electric license plate may be issued only,
- if the certificate of conformity shows that the vehicle has
has a carbon dioxide emission of no more than 50 grams per kilometer driven, or
- its range is at least 40 kilometers using only the electric propulsion engine.
This applies to hybrid vehicles with fuel codes 0008, 0010, 0012, 0014, 0019, 0022, 0024, 0025, 0026, 0027, 0028, 0029, 0030, 0031, 0033.
COC or certificate of conformity
The following fields must be filled in the COC or certificate of conformity:
- Item 22 for vehicle class L or item 23 for vehicle classes M1, N1 and N2 (Pure electric drive - yes/no).
- Item 23.1 (Hybrid (electric) vehicle: yes/no)
- Index 26 (fuel)
- Index 49.1 (Co2 emission combined)
- Paragraph 49.2 (Electric range)
Manufacturer's certificate or expert opinion in accordance with §21 StVZO for hybrid (plug-in) vehicles with fuel keys 0008, 0010, 0012, 0014, 0019, 0022 and 0024.
The keys for hybrid (plug-in) vehicles were only introduced in 2012, so that these were registered as "normal" hybrids until 2011 and therefore cannot be identified as externally chargeable. In these cases, the vehicle owner must provide evidence of the external rechargeability of the electrical energy storage unit in the form of a manufacturer's certificate or with an expert opinion in accordance with §21 StVZO when submitting the application.
There will be 11,00 Euro will be charged.
