One-way street in future
Traffic trial starts on Stellfelder Straße
The one-way street regulation for Stellfelder Straße in Sandkamp will begin on Monday, August 5. In future, it will only be possible to drive from Stellfelder Straße into Tappenbecker Landstraße (one-way street) at the western end of the village. The other way around, the entrance will be closed to car and bus traffic. Meanwhile, nothing will change for bicycle and pedestrian traffic, as Stellfelder Straße will remain open in both directions.
With the traffic test, we want to check whether the effects of a one-way street at this point have an impact on traffic in Sandkamp. Normally, a one-way street reduces through traffic and therefore also the resulting noise. The results will then be incorporated into the plans for the complete renovation of Stellfelder Strasse.
The one-way street stretches for around 200 meters between the access road to the VW parking lots and the access road to the tennis courts at the western end of the town. The idea of a one-way street in sections was developed in a citizens' workshop based on suggestions from local residents and politicians. The administration had held two public workshops on mobility and traffic in Sandkamp to discuss the need for improvement and problems in the areas of cycling, walking, motor vehicles and bus traffic.
The detour for motorists runs from Tappenbecker Landstraße via Hafenstraße, Wolfsburger Landstraße and Appelchaussee. Bus services operated by Wolfsburger Verkehrs Gesellschaft (WVG) will also have to be rerouted. WVG provides information about this on its website at www.wvg.de.
