City seeks election assistants
Early federal election takes place on February 23
For the Bundestag election on February 23, the city of Wolfsburg is urgently looking for interested citizens who would like to work as election assistants on election day in one of the more than 103 general election boards or in one of the 31 postal voting boards. The City of Wolfsburg will provide compensation of 50 euros for voluntary work. Interested parties can contact the Citizens' Services/Elections Division immediately, which will accept registrations by telephone on (05361) 28-1937 or by e-mail at wahlhelfer@stadt.wolfsburg.de.
"I am confident that, despite the early election date, enough citizens will once again declare their willingness to volunteer for the Bundestag elections. Your commitment is an indispensable contribution to our democratic coexistence - join in and help us to master this important task," appeals Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.
To take part in the election, people must be 18 years of age or older on election day, have been resident in Germany for at least three months and not be disqualified from voting. The election takes place on the day from 8 am to 6 pm. Polling assistants meet at the polling station at 7:15 a.m., then work in two shifts throughout the day and count the votes at the polling station after polls close.
