In a few years, the Bildungshaus am Klieversberg at the entrance to the city will form a new, innovative place of learning. The educational and cultural institutions of the Adult Education Center, the City Library, the Media Center and the New School will then be combined under one roof.
Architecturally and in terms of content, a new, visionary offer of experiential learning, self-learning and living is to be created. The Bildungshaus is to become a prototype embedded in an urban and open space planning concept.
It is to become a house that inspires, stimulates and in which Wolfsburg's learning culture and modern educational trends can be lived. A place designed for and with the citizens of Wolfsburg. The concept of our Bildungshaus with the fusion of institutions in terms of content does not yet exist, neither nationally nor internationally.
The Bildungshaus is intended to be a place for modern education and up-to-date information, for individual learning and the application of knowledge. A place that animates and inspires people to discover and develop their creativity and competence. A meeting place with quality of stay for the citizens is to be created.
The joint move-in of the adult education center, the municipal library, the media center and the upper school of the Neue Schule Wolfsburg will create spatial and content-related synergies that will promote learning along the educational biography. The Bildungshaus will be equipped with the full range of didactic and pedagogical competencies and the design of new and individual learning opportunities.
The Bildungshaus is part of a whole. It enriches the colorful, diverse Wolfsburg educational landscape with a place by and for the citizens of Wolfsburg. One of the most prominent locations in the city center was chosen for the building. For this reason, the building is to have an impact in terms of both content and architecture.
The architects have the challenging task of designing a building that will be a model, a stimulus and a new benchmark for educational buildings. In doing so, many different perspectives must be taken into account. The content profile has to be considered as well as organizational components, technology and energy concept, user-friendliness, design and the overall architectural quality.
