Death

Death register - notification and registration of deaths

When a family member has died, it means a lot of bureaucratic work.
The first step is to report the death to the registry office of the place of death by the third working day following the death at the latest. The Wolfsburg registry office is therefore only responsible for deaths in the city of Wolfsburg.

Since in most cases a funeral home is commissioned, it is advisable and sensible to leave the notification of the death to the funeral home. You only need to give him the necessary documents.

The funeral director then submits the documents to the registry office, the death can be recorded and the death certificates can be issued.

Required Documents:

In addition to a doctor's death certificate, further documents are required to certify the death, depending on marital status and nationality. You can obtain information on this from your contact person.

Fees:

There is an administrative fee for the issuance of a death certificate and each additional certificate. Please ask the responsible clerk for the amount of the fee.

The certificates for social security and pension purposes are free of charge.
