The animal enclosure is idyllically located in the disused quarry at Wolfsburg's Klieversberg, right next to the Wolfsburg City Hospital.
The quarry at the Klieversberg belongs geologically to the so-called Allertal line or the Hehlinger Graben. The western side of the quarry consists of a more than 10 m high wall of gray limestone and marlstone, which was pushed up during the Lower and Middle Kimmeridge Period. This formation is too often not found. Therefore, today the quarry represents a natural monument.
