Redesign to prevent flooding
During the last major heavy rainfall event, the local supermarket on Schulenburgallee in Wolfsburg was flooded. The Wolfsburger Entwässerungsbetriebe (WEB) identified the source of the flooding as the upstream public parking lot and the street itself. Against this background, work began some time ago to redesign the area accordingly. As a first step, the access roads to the parking lot were raised to prevent the inflow of water running off the road. In addition, two parking spaces in the parking lot are to be unsealed and redesigned as retention beds. The water flow will be adjusted so that water flows to the beds. Contrary to initial plans, the work will take until the end of the year due to the necessary concrete work. The costs are in the mid five-figure range.
