Forest bathing course donates and plants chestnut tree
The forest bathing course has given something back to the city forest by planting a chestnut tree. The forest provides the air we breathe, stores drinking water, supplies wood and protects the earth's climate. People can find the peace and relaxation they need through various activities in the forest. With Sylvia Cultus, course leader for forest bathing, in cooperation with the Stadtsportbund Wolfsburg, 15 participants experienced relaxing and stimulating hours in Wolfsburg's city forest.
Motivated by the forest experiences in the changing seasons, the course participants want to give something back to the forest by donating a tree. True to the motto "Healthy forest - healthy people". The money raised was used to buy a sweet chestnut tree, which should be able to cope particularly well with the effects of climate change.
City forester Dirk Schäfer and district forester Ronald von Münster determined the location for the chestnut tree on the meadow orchard by the old carp pond, organized the transport of the tree from the nursery and, together with the forestry trainees, expertly ensured that it was planted correctly.
The friends of Waldbaden will now regularly check on the young chestnut tree and ensure that it grows well. However, the first chestnuts can only be enjoyed in ten to fifteen years' time.
