Königsberger Strasse is being extensively renovated
Heavily used route is being repaired
Königsberger Straße between Grauhorststraße and the junction with Martin-Luther-Straße is being extensively repaired. Potholes, rutting, cracks and various patches make the 500,000 euro repair necessary. The construction work is planned for August to September 2025 and will be carried out under full road closure. Traffic routing is currently being coordinated with Wolfsburger Verkehrs-GmbH (WVG), the police and the fire department.
"The renovation of Königsberger Straße is long overdue. By renewing the road surface, we are making a necessary investment in road safety and the infrastructure of our city," explains First City Councillor and City Planning Councillor Kai-Uwe Hirschheide. Parts of Königsberger Straße still have a so-called macadam construction without a bonded base course. As a result, deeper renewal of the road structure is required in some sections. In addition, manhole covers, kerbs and gutters will be replaced. The aim is to create a road that is safe and resistant to the effects of weather and traffic in the long term.
The renovation of Königsberger Strasse is one of the largest projects in the 2025 road surface program. The corresponding project proposal will now go to political consultation. The Wolfsburg City Council will make a decision at its meeting on April 2. Detailed information on traffic disruptions and detour will be announced in good time.
