International education in Wolfsburg

The IB Diploma at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium

Wolfsburg is a colorful and cosmopolitan city where people from many different countries and cultures live together. This diversity is also reflected in the school: at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium (ASG), pupils can now take the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, an internationally recognized qualification that can be obtained either in addition to the Abitur or as an independent qualification. The lessons are mainly taught in English and prepare young people for study opportunities at home and abroad.

Practical experience through cooperation with Ostfalia

The ASG has launched a new partnership with Ostfalia - University of Applied Sciences for even better practical relevance. IB students can now complete a three-week internship in automotive engineering. Not only do they gain their first practical experience, but they also receive a certificate and five credit points (CP), which count towards their university entrance qualification. This creates an even closer link between school and university and opens up new career prospects for the students.

"The IB Diploma offers our students a unique opportunity to prepare for international studies and develop important skills for the future. This opens doors to universities all over the world," explains Iris Bothe, City Councillor for Youth, Education, Integration and Social Affairs.

The advantages of the IB Diploma at a glance:

  • Study opportunities worldwide: the IB is recognized as an admission requirement for universities in over 100 countries.
  • Optimal preparation for studies and careers: The interdisciplinary teaching prepares students specifically for the demands of life.
  • Promoting personal development: students learn to think critically and develop their social skills.
  • Practical relevance through the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences: During the internship at the university, students gain valuable insights into vehicle technology and the way science works.
  • International perspective and language skills: The focus on global topics and learning foreign languages brings clear advantages for studies and careers.

With the IB Diploma, students can be optimally prepared for the challenges of a networked and global world. More information can be found on the ASG website.
