Aptitude test
The selection procedure is used to select suitable candidates from the pool of applicants. This selection process consists of four parts:
The sports test:
The first part is the physical aptitude test for the professional fire departments in Germany. In addition to classic disciplines such as 200 meter swimming, 15 meter diving and 3000 meter running, coordinative test tasks such as balancing, alternating jumps, push-ups, bending hang, CKCU test, box boomerang test and dummy pulling are also required, which have been developed by the German Association of Cities and Towns together with the German Sport University Cologne. For self-assessment, the fire department offers the opportunity to try out the sports test without the pressure of an exam on January 18, 2025 at 08.00 am .
Please register early by e-mail(feuerwehr-ausbildung@stadt.wolfsburg.de). Places are limited.
The fire brigade-specific test:
By completing various tasks, such as climbing the turntable ladder, pulling a dummy and solving technical and manual problems, applicants* should demonstrate their mastery of fire service-specific tasks.
The action-oriented selection test:
As the penultimate point of the selection process, an action-oriented test must be completed. Here, areas such as processing capacity, processing speed and practical-technical understanding in the categories of German, mathematics, physics and chemistry are tested in one procedure.
The preliminary medical examination:
A detailed medical check is intended to clarify the health suitability of applicants* before the examination by the health authority required under civil service law. -

Hazard prevention
The Hazard Prevention Department bundles the areas of preventive fire protection, operation preparation and planning, civil defense and disaster prevention, as well as CBRN hazard prevention.
Preventive fire protection is involved at an early stage in the building permit process and advises the lower building supervisory authority. Open communication is also practiced between the fire protection department and building owners, or building planners and architects. The close interaction with the emergency response team also enables direct coordination and thus significantly supports the success of defensive fire protection.
In addition to the current contact persons, this page contains extensive information material and service tips on all aspects of civil defense and disaster control.-
