Step by step

Exchange, advice, support

In recent years, the Step by Step project has made an important contribution to creating an arrival situation for school-age refugees that has offered them security and stability.

The Step by Step Project

  • is an educational institution for school-age children and young people with a migration/refugee background from year 5 in DAS WEST
  • consists of a multi-professional team of social pedagogues, teachers, psychologists and specialist translators
  • gives children and young people the opportunity to learn the basics of the German language and reduce their fears
  • advises and supports young people and young adults as they start school
  • is networked in Wolfsburg's educational and advisory landscape
  • supports children and young people with individual and group counseling
  • offers educational leisure activities is a meeting place and safe space for young people from all backgrounds
  • has looked after over 700 children and young people since the project started in November 2015
