Participation for children and young people

People with physical, mental or psychological disabilities or those at risk of such disabilities should be able to develop their self-determination and participate fully, effectively and equally in society. As the City of Wolfsburg, we want to support people in this and try to counteract or help alleviate disadvantages.

  • Who is entitled?

    Children and young people who are not only temporarily mentally, emotionally or physically disabled or at risk of such a disability are eligible.
    We will be happy to advise you individually about your entitlement options.

  • What services do we offer?

    The benefits are divided into four main areas, only two of which apply to children and young people:

    • Benefits for participation in education
    • Benefits for social participation

    The benefits can be provided in various forms. A distinction is made between outpatient, day-care and inpatient measures.

    We will be happy to discuss which benefits are specifically suitable for you or your child in a personal meeting.

    Services in accordance with Section 35a SGB VIII could be

    • Autism therapy
    • learning therapy
    • School support/class assistance
    • Integrative afternoon at schools
    • Inpatient accommodation
    • Other services for participation in life in the community

    Services according to SGB IX could be

    • Early intervention
    • Integrative crèche/kindergarten, speech therapy kindergarten, curative kindergarten
    • Autism therapy
    • School support/class assistance
    • Integrative afternoon at schools
    • Inpatient accommodation
    • Personal budget in accordance with Section 29 SGB IX
    • Granting of aids
    • Other services for participation in life in the community

  • How does a procedure work?

    1. Consultation
    2. Application submission
    3. Application review
    4. Participation and/or overall plan procedure in the form of an interview
    5. Preparation of an ICF-based needs assessment (e.g. B.E.Ni or IBN)
    6. Examination of the entitlement to benefits
    7. Approval or rejection of the benefit
    8. If the benefit is utilized, regular review of needs (intervals: every 6 to 12 months)

  • What documents are required?

    We will be happy to explain which documents are required in each individual case in a personal meeting.
