Building on the compass and the city center direction book, the city center roadmap defines jointly supported, central projects and suitable first steps for the next two years by politicians, administration and WMG. This is a dynamic working document that is regularly reviewed and updated.
The roadmap defines a total of eight projects that will be driven forward by the city's stakeholders over the next two years. These projects lay the foundation for the long-term transformation of the city center, while short-term, visible measures will be implemented and tested in the short term.
In addition to describing the individual projects, the roadmap also contains initial steps for implementation, cost estimates and details of responsibilities and cooperation partners. Each project builds on the objectives of the compass and the fields of action in the roadmap and thus brings them to concrete implementation. The northern area of the city center is already on the move, and the public space around the town hall and Kleistpark is being redesigned in parallel with funding. A detailed description of the projects can be found in the City Center Roadmap, which is available under Downloads.

Participation process
In summer 2022, a broad participation process was initiated and discussion formats were held. By participating in the city center conference, which took place on June 18, 2022, all citizens were able to help shape the concept. The content of the event was also mirrored online as part of a digital survey. From 18 June to the end of September 2022, groups of all kinds were able to address the future topics of the city center as part of the participation kits.
Various city center stakeholders and committees were involved in the development of the city center compass. Subsequently, around 60 stakeholders from various interest groups came together at an inner city workshop on 16.03.2024 in the indoor swimming pool to discuss project proposals from private third parties and to sensitize the participants to changes, to network and to call for their own initiative.
