Resilient Wolfsburg
Smart City Wolfsburg sees digitalization as an effective tool for future-oriented and climate-friendly urban development. With the Resilient Wolfsburg project, we aim to use the possibilities of digitalization to provide data-based support for climate protection and adaptation measures. In this way, we want to use valuable resources more efficiently and direct public investment more specifically to where it is most effective.
Our vision is to establish a digital climate twin that can be used to answer climate-related questions based on data. How will a new temporary cycle path be accepted? Where is there a need for new green spaces to specifically protect citizens from the heat? What impact does the construction of a new building have on the local microclimate?
In order to answer these questions, a data basis must first be created. This is why the KlimaCube and water sensor projects are being implemented as part of the Resilient Wolfsburg project. The data obtained in these projects can then be incorporated into the Smart City digital twin project in the long term in order to create a digital climate twin for the city of Wolfsburg. This will create an efficient tool for future-oriented and climate-friendly urban development.
