University and school look to the future
Students present projects in Westhagen
For two semesters, students from the Department of Architecture at the Technische Universität (TU) Braunschweig have been studying the Westhagen district of Wolfsburg at the invitation of the city's Forum Architektur and the Stadtteil- und Kulturhausmanagement Westhagen. After focusing primarily on the developments that characterize Westhagen today in the winter semester, the current summer semester has set its sights on the future.
Together with pupils from the twelfth year of the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium, the students have explored the district in regular meetings and thought about possible futures together. This resulted in four short films and other, partly interactive projects in various media and materials. These will be presented on Thursday, June 27, from 11 a.m. on the market square and in the shopping center in Westhagen.
The starting point for the groups' work was an examination of the district, with familiar, inconspicuous or new places, but also with questions about image and prejudices, opportunities and potential.
