Story(s) and coffee to go

New service from the City Museum at Wolfsburg Castle

The M2K City Museum at Wolfsburg Castle offers coffee to go. The special feature: Each cup tells a different Wolfsburg story. From now on, you can buy hot coffee and cool drinks at the museum window and learn interesting facts about the history of our city and the castle at the same time. This is the museum team's response to a wish expressed by many visitors to the castle. Between a walk in the castle park and a visit to one of the numerous cultural institutions located there, they want refreshment - and not just on hot days.

"With the city museum's new offer, we want to further increase the quality of stay at Wolfsburg Castle. The pop-up measure is a further building block in the revitalization of this wonderful cultural location," explains Andreas Meyer, Head of the Culture Division.

The coffee mugs also offer a special service: each mug is linked to an object from the museum by a picture and a sentence. Who raced through the castle's garden hall on a scooter? What does a golf ball have to do with the history of the city? And who was the only woman to steer the fortunes of the castle? By scanning a QR code, visitors can find out lots of interesting facts about Wolfsburg's history.

"It is important to us to get into conversation with the citizens and to tell the exciting or entertaining stories about our objects, and the coffee to go contributes to this," says Monika Kiekenap-Wilhelm, Director of the M2K.

The coffee to go will be available as a pop-up during the summer months until September 30 during the opening hours of the city museum. "First of all, we want to see how the offer is received. That's why we're starting with a small but fine range of drinks, including coffee, water and soft drinks. Depending on the response, we can also expand the range on offer," adds Kiekenap-Wilhelm.

The city museum is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm, on Saturdays from 1 pm to 6 pm and on Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm.
