Converting an unused children's pool into an attractive youth area - that was the aim of a campaign by the Wolfsburg City Youth Advisory Council together with other interested young people. They were welcomed on site by the VW pool's sponsors' association, members of the Stadtmitte local council and administrative staff.

After the welcome, a joint inspection of the old children's pool took place. It was explained to the participants which requirements had to be observed due to the listed building status. "The restriction with the listed tiles is a bit of a shame, but on the whole there's still a lot that can be done here," said the young people from Wolfsburg's Youth Advisory Council.

Then the creative part started with a round of brainstorming, during which numerous exciting ideas came together. In the next step, the young people split into two large groups and began to implement their visions with modeling clay. Towards the end of the participation, the groups presented their models to each other and voted on the name for the new area and the overall concept. The name Beach Lounge prevailed with a large majority, while the model with the most votes included a variety of seating options for chilling out. Both models also consider sand as a surface, options for listening to music and fairy lights to be essential.

The results of the participation will now be made available to the VW pool's sponsors' association so that they can take care of further planning and implementation. The beach lounge is a promising new attraction for the VW pool, which will make the place even more interesting for young people. The participation of the younger generation was a complete success and shows how much potential there is in their ideas.
