Wolfsburg saddles up again

Climate Alliance's CITY CYCLING campaign starts on August 18

On the saddle, get set, go! - The Climate Alliance's CITY CYCLING campaign is starting again. From August 18 until September 7, you can once again collect kilometers by bike. Whether to work, school, shopping or in your free time - every kilometer protects the climate, reduces carbon dioxide emissions and keeps you fit and healthy. The best thing about it: everyone can take part! Anyone who lives, works, belongs to a club or attends a (high) school in Wolfsburg can register. It doesn't matter whether you want to take part alone or be part of a team.

"CITY CYCLING is a really good opportunity to do more for your health and the climate," summarizes Kai-Uwe Hirschheide, First City Councillor and City Planning Councillor. "As a cyclist, I am once again part of the campaign this year and can only encourage all Wolfsburg residents to sign up."
At the end of CITY CYCLING, great prizes will be raffled off among the participants, including vouchers and some non-cash prizes. Applications and registrations are possible at www.stadtradeln.de/wolfsburg or via the CITY CYCLING app. For participants from the two previous years, the previous user details are still valid, i.e. it is not necessary to register again. When logging in for the first time, participants only need to assign themselves to a municipality and a team or create their own team. As last year, the competition within the municipality will be even more exciting: cyclists can now set up sub-teams of their company, club, school or administration (e.g. for each department or class) and compete against each other within the main team. The kilometers cycled count for the respective sub-team and the main team.

Wolfsburg is taking part in the international Climate Alliance campaign CITY CYCLING for the 13th time. This year, more than 2,800 participating municipalities have registered than ever before.

Recording journeys and supporting science

In addition to the well-known CITY CYCLING competition, the data basis for cycling in Wolfsburg can also be strengthened. By recording the journeys via the CITY CYCLING app, the routes can be scientifically evaluated, visualized for the municipalities and made available on the RiDE - Cycling in Germany platform. Thanks to funding from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), the CITY CYCLING municipalities receive a large part of this data free of charge. The more data is collected using the app, the more reliably cycling in Wolfsburg will be mapped. This information can be taken into account in future cycle traffic planning. Of course, the data is collected and processed anonymously in compliance with the strict EU data protection standards (EU GDPR). Further information on this and many other questions relating to CITY CYCLING can be found at https://www.stadtradeln.de/faq.

By using this function, you agree that the data may also be transferred to third countries, outside the European Economic Area, without an adequate level of data protection (especially USA). It is possible that authorities may access the data without any legal remedy. You can revoke your consent at any time. Further information: Privacy policy
