Summer, sun, sensor technology - in the Allersee

Sensor at the Allersee

Summer is just around the corner. Nothing stands in the way of a relaxing evening after work or a long weekend at Wolfsburg's local recreation area, our beautiful Allersee!
For all those who already have their swimming trunks and bikini ready, we now have a special feature in the Wolfsburg app: the water temperature of the bathing lake can now be viewed by everyone on the start page. You can now check how warm or cold the bathing water is from the comfort of your own home!

How is this possible?
As part of the Smart Cities funding program, the city of Wolfsburg has currently installed sensors at various locations. These measure, for example, the conductivity, temperature, quality or level of the water. The water data is continuously collected in order to transparently track changes in water quality and groundwater levels.

Lake Allersee has now also been equipped with a sensor to provide information on the water level and temperature. The data is primarily needed there in order to better plan and implement future construction projects. However, the water temperature in particular is something that is of interest to citizens. It was therefore clear from the outset that the city also wanted to share this information via the Wolfsburg app. The function is now available and Wolfsburg is a little smarter again!

By using this function, you agree that the data may also be transferred to third countries, outside the European Economic Area, without an adequate level of data protection (especially USA). It is possible that authorities may access the data without any legal remedy. You can revoke your consent at any time. Further information: Privacy policy
