Damaged wooden planks will be replaced immediately

The Allerpark in Wolfsburg is currently being extensively modernized by the city. A central project is the renovation of a section of the wooden deck between the Volkswagen Arena and the plaza. The work will begin on Monday, November 11 and, depending on the weather, will continue until around mid-March. Pedestrians in the affected area will be guided over the directly adjacent paved area during the construction work. The project has been coordinated with the VfL Wolfsburg fan leadership.

The damaged areas on the wooden planks and the side seating platforms have only been provisionally repaired in recent years by applying so-called screen printing plates. Now part of the wooden deck, including the substructure, is being completely renewed to ensure road safety in this particularly busy area, even in damp and wet conditions.

First, the existing elements will be demolished by mid-December. A new substructure will then be laid before the new surface layer is applied. Softwoods will be used, the durability of which has been improved by special processes. So-called Kebony, which has been treated with alcohol, will be used for the top layer and seating platforms, while so-called Accoya, which has been treated with vinegar, will be used for the substructure. In total, an area of around 720 square meters will be renewed. The costs amount to almost one million euros.
