"Together with the State Office for Schools and Education, we as a city are committed to countering this calculated shortage. We are already pulling out all the stops to find solutions to the capacity bottlenecks. And even if we face challenging years ahead, we can guarantee a place for all Wolfsburg children," explains Christoph Andacht, Head of Schools.

The decision as to where new classes will be opened depends on the capacities of the teaching staff in the classroom and all-day classes as well as capacities in terms of rooms and canteen space.

"This means that not every child can attend their preferred school and the principle of "short legs, short distances" cannot be guaranteed throughout. As we have a diverse and very good school landscape in Wolfsburg, children receive excellent schooling and education at every location," emphasizes city councillor Iris Bothe. "For us, this also means a higher demand for school transportation - we are also thinking about that!"
