Nordsteimker Straße

Construction work on schedule

We are currently renewing the cycle path and footpath on Nordsteimker Straße between the Berliner Ring and the end of Steimker Berg. The work is on schedule and we will be starting the final construction phase on July 15. You can find all the information here.

  • How much longer will the construction work take?

The construction work will continue until mid-August. After that, the road will be open again. We are on schedule with the work.

  • What is being done?

We are building a new and wider cycle path along Nordsteimker Straße to make the route more attractive for cyclists. At the same time, LSW is laying new district heating pipes. We have coordinated the work so that the impact can be kept to a minimum.

  • How far along are the construction works?

We are on schedule. The current construction progress is around 65 percent. The final stage will start on July 15. The work will be completed by mid-August.

  • What happens from July 15?

During the final stage, the entire area of the junction with Erich-Bammel-Weg will be renovated. This will require the road to be fully closed. This means that it will no longer be possible to drive not only out of town, but also into town via Nordsteimker Straße. Steimker Berg will then only be accessible again for residents from both sides. This will be from the city center via Unter den Eichen and from Nordsteimke via Ahornweg.

  • Will the petrol station, nursing home or law firm still be accessible from July 15?

Residents of Nordsteimker Straße up to Erich-Bammel-Weg (petrol station, nursing home, petrol station) can be reached from Berliner Ring via the western section of Nordsteimker Straße. From the east, these residents can be reached via the detour route.

  • How will traffic be rerouted from July 15?

Both inbound and outbound traffic will be diverted via Berliner Ring, Dieselstraße, Zollstraße (L290, past Reislingen and Reislingen Süd-West) and the K111 in Nordsteimke.

  • What impact will construction work at the St. Annen junction have from June 24?

From June 24 to July 12 (i.e. before the full closure of Nordsteimker Straße!), the road surface in the St. Annen junction area in the northbound direction (i.e. from the VfL stadium in the direction of the castle) will be repaired. The road in this direction will be closed from the junction Berliner Ring / Rothenfelder Straße (at the level of Edeka and the old VfL stadium) - neither Berliner Brücke, nor Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße (Heßlinger Straße) and Dieselstraße will be directly accessible from the north from Berliner Ring. Traffic will be diverted accordingly.

  • What will the detour for Nordsteimker Straße look like during the closure of the St. Annen junction?

Due to the fact that Dieselstraße is not accessible from Berliner Ring, we also have to adjust the detour for Nordsteimker Straße. The detour then leads via Reislinger Straße to the traffic circle, from the traffic circle via Käthe-Paulus-Straße back to Dieselstraße on the original detour.

Important: The St. Annen junction will be free again when Nordsteimker Straße is also closed in the direction of the city center.

  • Will the traffic lights on Sandkrugstraße in Reislingen, for turning onto the L322, be adjusted so that they are green for longer?

No, the traffic lights coming from Sandkrugstraße will not be adjusted as this is not the official detour route.

  • What applies to residents of Steimker Berg?

From June 24 to July 15, residents of Steimker Berg coming from Berliner Ring will be directed via Reislinger Straße to the traffic circle and then northwards via Käthe-Paulus-Straße back to the original detour via Dieselstraße and Zollstraße.

From July 15, Steimker Berg will once again be directly accessible from both sides. The full closure will only begin after the "Unter den Eichen" junction coming from the Berliner Ring. This means that access from the city center is possible via the "Unter den Eichen" road and from the direction of Nordsteimke via the "Ahornweg".

Access to Steimker Berg is only permitted for local residents!

  • Who is a neighbor of the Steimker Berg?

A resident is anyone who lives on a property adjacent to the road or has to go there to do something. This means that residents of Steimker Berg and their visitors/guests can drive into Steimker Berg. This also applies to customers of the adjacent businesses (for example the Parkhotel, the café or the physiotherapy practice). All others are prohibited from driving through.

Residents of Steimker Gärten are not authorized to drive through. It is therefore not permitted to drive through Steimker Berg.

  • What is the city doing to prevent shortcuts over the Steimker Berg?

The roads will be signposted with the traffic sign "No entry" and the addition "Residents free". In addition, the city reserves the right to carry out radar checks and, in coordination with the police, other traffic controls.

Drivers will be fined a minimum of 50 euros for disregarding the no-entry sign.

  • Will Steimker Berg remain accessible by bus?

Yes, the Steimker Berg can still be reached by bus. The current detour via Erich-Bammel-Weg will remain in place until July 15. From July 15, the bus will once again run regularly via Nordsteimker Straße and Alte Landstraße.

  • How is cycle traffic diverted?

Cycle traffic in an east-west direction will be routed via the streets "Unter den Eichen" and "Ahornweg" through the Steimker Berg residential area. The detour is signposted.
