Construction site St. Annen junction

Renovation of the road surface

Between June 24 and July 12, the road surface at the St. Annen junction in the northbound direction will be renewed. You can find all information about the roadworks in the FAQs.

You can see from the diagram whether and how you can get via the St. Annen junction.

  • What is being built at the St. Annen junction?

In the area of the Berliner Ring from Rothenfelder Straße to Berliner Brücke, the surface course of the northbound lane will be renewed. In the more heavily used area of the junction, further rehabilitation will be carried out. The binder course will also be renewed here.

  • How long will it take to build?

The construction project will start on June 24 and will be completed on July 12.

  • Which lanes will remain open and which will be closed?

Coming from the south, the Berliner Ring is completely closed from Rothenfelder Straße northwards. It is therefore not possible to drive onto Berliner Brücke, Dieselstraße or Heßlinger Straße from this direction.

From the north - coming from Berliner Brücke - it is not possible to turn left into Dieselstraße. It is still possible to drive straight ahead towards Rothenfelder Straße and turn right into Heßlinger Straße.

Coming from the east - from Dieselstraße - it is possible to drive straight ahead into Heßlinger Straße and turn left into Berliner Ring. It is not possible to turn right onto the Berliner Brücke.

From the west - from Heßlinger Straße (Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße) - all directions are still possible.

  • How will the traffic be diverted?

Traffic coming from Braunschweiger Straße will be routed via Heinrich-Heine-Straße, Lessingstraße (Burger King junction) onto Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße and then onto Heßlinger Straße via the high bridge towards Dieselstraße or Berliner Brücke. From Heßlinger Straße it is also possible to turn right into Berliner Ring.

Traffic from Berliner Ring will be routed via Reislinger Straße to the traffic circle and from the traffic circle via Käthe-Paulus-Straße to Dieselstraße. From there, the Berliner Ring and Heßlinger Straße can be reached in a westerly direction (left, city center). Heading east (turn right), you can continue to Vorsfelde and the B 188.

  • How do I get to the Esso filling station, Edeka or the e-bike store from the Berliner Ring?

These destinations can be reached in the same way as via the Berliner Ring in the southbound direction - i.e. also via both detour routes.

  • Are the footpaths and cycle paths at the St. Annen junction also affected by the closure?

The northern pedestrian and cycle path crossing at the Berliner Ring/Rothenfelder Straße junction will be closed. The pedestrian tunnel at the St.-Annen junction will be signposted as a detour. Otherwise, the pedestrian and cycle paths can be used without restriction.

  • Can the fire department drive through there?

Yes, the construction project has been coordinated with the fire department.

  • Will the intersection remain free for bus traffic?

The construction work was coordinated with WVG in advance. WVG will provide information about changes to routes and timetables.

  • Will the current construction site on Dieselstrasse be completed by then?

No, not quite. As things stand, the construction site on Dieselstrasse will continue until June 28.

  • Why are there currently so many construction sites in parallel?

The construction work will be coordinated so that it falls during the summer and plant vacations, when there is less traffic. In this way, we want to reduce the impact.

However, by carrying out several measures at the same time, we want to shorten the overall period in which traffic is restricted as a result.

  • The roadworks affect the detour of the roadworks on Nordsteimker Straße. Why is construction work being carried out on the detour route right now?

We have deliberately timed this measure to coincide with the summer/works vacations in order to take advantage of the period when there is less traffic. As a result, we also expect less traffic on the Nordsteimker Straße detour. For the duration of the closure of the St. Annen junction, the detour of Nordsteimker Straße will be adapted and routed via Reislinger Straße.

  • Why is the construction work not being carried out during the fall break?

Experience has shown that the traffic load is significantly lower during the summer vacations than during the fall vacations. In addition, we need three weeks for the resurfacing work. This means that one week of the construction period would be outside the vacations. For these reasons, the project was scheduled for the summer vacation.
