On the pedals, get set, go!
Funding approval for cycle highway has been received

"The funding commitment for the cycle highway is an important signal for our city and the entire region. It strengthens the environmental network, sensibly complements our mobility mix and creates an attractive, safe connection for everyone who wants to get around in a climate-friendly way," emphasizes Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.
Regional association takes over coordination
The Greater Braunschweig Regional Association is coordinating the planning and acquisition of funding. "We can use various funding pots and have this in writing," says association director Ralf Sygusch happily. Between 75 and 90 percent of the costs are covered by funding programs for bicycle traffic.
Sygusch praises the close cooperation with the local authorities and the state authority for road construction and transport, which is also supporting the expansion along the L 295. The association's extensive preparatory work has secured the financial basis for the project.
Broad public participation planned
Broad public participation is planned for the planning of the exact route. After the summer vacations, events will be held in all participating municipalities. Initial feasibility studies have already been carried out - questions relating to nature conservation and environmental protection as well as possible routes have been taken into account.
Implementation will then be carried out by the respective municipalities. The first sections should be completed by 2030 and the entire route in the early 2030s.
At the same time, work is also underway on another high-speed cycle link between Braunschweig, Wolfenbüttel and Salzgitter - to improve cycling connections to the region's regional centers.
