The Foreigners' Office of the City of Wolfsburg is the service point for immigrants.
Our employees advise and support all those who want to find a new home in Wolfsburg. The goal is to clarify the legal status as quickly as possible in order to enable access to the labor market in the most favorable case. But of course, the Foreigners' Office also decides on the termination of a stay and the resulting measures.
The law amending the Citizenship Act was promulgated on 26.03.2024 and will enter into force in its essential parts on 26.06.2024.
The law generally permits multiple citizenship (dual citizenship) and makes it easier to acquire German citizenship. In future, naturalization will be possible after five years instead of eight, and the period of prior residence can be shortened to up to three years in the case of special integration achievements.

What is a residence permit and what are the requirements?
The granting or extension of a residence title depends on the purpose of residence. Therefore, the requirements are very different and cannot be shown in their entirety. The differences as well as questions and detailed answers to these residence titles can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. In total, there are the following five residence titles:
- the residence permit
- the EU Blue Card
- the Permit for Permanent Residence - EU
- the settlement permit and
- the visa
The competent German mission abroad is solely responsible for deciding on the visa application.
Please take the opportunity to get detailed advice from your responsible officer.
Documents/Fees
Which documents you need to submit depends on the facts of the case. Please enquire about this directly with your responsible case officer.
