Wolfsburg's castles & Castles at a glance

Founded in 1938, Wolfsburg, now 83 years old, is one of the youngest major cities in Europe. At the same time, Wolfsburg is not a conventional city, does not have a city history that goes back hundreds of years, but was founded specifically for the Volkswagen plant. Nevertheless, the comparatively short history of the city is marked by historical highlights.

Neuhaus castle

Neuhaus Castle is still considered one of the best-preserved medieval moated castles in northern Germany. In the castle museum, a branch of the town museum and looked after by a highly committed sponsoring association, originals and models tell of the medieval foundation of the complex, the life of the knights here and the development of the former Neuhaus district.

Fallersleben Castle, located in the heart of Wolfsburg's Fallersleben district in a beautiful park next to the classicist St. Michael's Church, dates back to the 16th century. In the 18th century, the original U-shaped castle complex still included numerous farm buildings, such as the preserved New Brewery, today a place of rustic hospitality.

Wolfsburg Castle

The "Wolfsburg" with its ornamental gables and onion tower was developed from the 16th century into one of the most magnificent testimonies to the North German Renaissance. Today, the City Museum, the Municipal Gallery, the Wolfsburg Art Association and the Heidersberger Institute present Wolfsburg's history, modern art and photography here
