Council and legal affairs
In addition to the advisory function in legal matters within the city administration and the legal representation of the city of Wolfsburg externally, the division ensures that you can also handle administrative matters in the city and local districts. For this purpose, our colleagues in the district offices and the two administrative offices in Fallersleben and Vorsfelde are at your disposal.
In addition, our tasks include providing legal support to the honorary municipal bodies of the Wolfsburg City Council, the administrative committee and the 16 local councils and giving them the best possible assistance.
Tasks of the business unit
The legal advisors advise the divisions and units of the Wolfsburg city administration internally on all legal matters and represent the city in court.
Unfortunately, you as a citizen cannot receive personal legal information or legal advice directly from the unit's lawyers, as this is prohibited by law.
However, your personal interest is represented by the unit ensuring lawful administrative action. This leads to equal treatment and a concrete case-by-case examination of the facts for all of you.
The local laws regulate our common coexistence within the city of Wolfsburg. They are spatially limited to the city area, but apply to everyone and not exclusively to the residents of Wolfsburg.
The statutes or ordinances are publicly announced in the official gazette before they come into force. This gives you the opportunity to find out about new or changed legal regulations.
In the citizen information portal you will find all information about the council of the city of Wolfsburg, its members, the council committees and meeting dates.
All information about the arbitration office and the honorary arbitrators in Wolfsburg.
Wolfsburg's city and town districts are presented to you here. On the pages you will find the contact details of the office responsible for you, the services offered there as well as links to institutions, associations and more from the respective city or district.
Over certification and apostille
Do you have to present a document or certificate abroad which has been issued by the City of Wolfsburg, and does the responsible foreign representation require confirmation of the validity (apostille) of these documents?
The apostille is issued by the Braunschweig Police Headquarters.
If the state for which you need the documents has acceded to the so-called Hague Convention, you can contact the Braunschweig Police Headquarters directly.
If you do not find the state in this list, the document or certificate must be pre-certified. The city of Wolfsburg is responsible for this pre-certification.
The pre-certification is free of charge.

As a contracting authority, the City of Wolfsburg is an important economic factor in the region.
Whether construction measures, vehicle procurement or the commissioning of architects and engineers, public procurement law ensures that public funds are used economically within a legally secure framework. In this way, the Central Procurement Office makes an important contribution to preventing corruption.
The Central Procurement Office receives the bids of interested bidders. The bids are opened here and, after they have been evaluated, the Central Procurement Office sends out the contracts.
